The Body School: The Story of Breath • 2h 10m
Class overview:
- Today is robust in conversation around the human nervous system. If you're new to breath practices, "nerve cleansing" is a term referenced throughout much of yogic literature (old and new). Pranayama can help or hinder us depending upon where we're at emotionally or physically:
- What is the ANS, the PNS and SNS
- Review of the diaphragm
- What and why we should know about the vagus nerve?
- The Polyvagal Theory in brief
- A bit into chronic stress, PTSD and "shutdown" - which a lot of people are experiencing during this global trauma
- The breath practice takes up the last 30 min and is a BKS Iyengar revision on his primary pranayama course:
Ujjayi
Viloma
Anuloma (this is a new one)
Surya Bhedana
Chandra Bhedana
Ending in a seven min savasana
