This is a favourite of mine so far! Feels soo good! So rarely are we encouraged in day to day life to take our spines into backbends (or anatomically, hyperextension) in sports and functional activities. Yet our body craves and needs it!
This practice builds a gradual heat and sweat at the start - opening into the frontal body, a necessary step for juicy backbends. There are longer holds with emphasis on "milking" the shoulders of tension preparing the body to go deeper. It is a sweaty and intense practice into the upper body and spine.
It is a unique warming of the shoulders and spine, leading up to classic backbends: salabhasana, camel variation, camel, floor bow, wheel
