  • March 29: The Iliopsoas Asana + Anatomy Lesson

    We begin with a 3 minute brief anatomy lesson on the psoas major and iliacus. As well as a brief look at the two diaphragms in your body. We then work into your hip flexors integrating this awareness and for some of you, new knowledge. Enjoy!

    I share a 3 min long clip from a teacher (Dispenza) on the sympathetic nervous system + what the HPA axis looks like. The practice is mainly on your feet: a basic feel good flow into the hips and a few backbends near the end.

    Today's practice is therapeutic one beginning with a quick visual on what and where the IT band and TFL live. The practice that follows works to release and bring blood flow into the TFL, the IT band and whole hip. It is more informative and therapeutic, than it is sweaty.

  • Dec 4: Breathwork into the Neck, Spine and Hips

    We use "shining skull" breath into the neck, into a spinal rotation and the hips. We end supine with restorative three-parts breathing as a segueway into our restorative practice.

    This is a top-down approach to opening the body in a restorative way from the neck, to the shoulders, chest, spine and pelvis we work our way down the body in a restorative manner. Ending with simple breath and kumbhakas (breath holds) to savasana.

    This practice focuses on one legged balancing postures: airplane variations, tree pose, utthita hasta padangustasana, dancer w/ strap, Warrior 3, half moon/ poets pose, chapasana, standing splits...Bird of Paradise.

  • Jan 12: A Strong Midline w/ Core + Legs

    You will need a block or solid pillow for class. We begin with core work, bridge sets and a vinyasa set with a block, encouraging the entire midline of the body towards balance. We work gradual standing poses into Bird of Paradise, a few backbends, then rest. Enjoy!
